Influence on Others
“Mother Teresa was a world leader, but she held no official position in the government. She was strong and powerful, but stood only 4 feet 11 inches tall”, stated on the article “Sainthood for Mother Teresa?” on the ProQuest Newspaper. She was indeed an example of humanity and compassion that with her constant caring and helping was able to take love and support to all those who were found in great need worldwide. Even after her death from a heart attack on September 5, 1997, her Missionaries of Charity are still helping people today. With the expansion of their facilities more and more people are given the chance to be taken care of despite the conditions they are found in all around the world. On another article titled “Who did Mother Teresa Influenced”, from the website Famous People Biography, said “[t]he biggest influence and lesson she taught the world was that every single person whether rich, poor, outcast, healthy, religion, social standing, and sex has value in the eyes of god. If you believed in god, then you will respect everyone. She also made many people realize that the greatest way to show love to god is by meeting the needs of others.”
Having been born into a world of unfair treatment and separation of her people, Mother Teresa, with the encouragement of her parents, always kept faith in her origins and religion. By doing so and with her fascination about missionary work she was illuminated to follow God by serving him among the poorest of the poor. “[T]he world stood astounded by her care for those usually deemed of little value” (Gutzelman). But it was with her constant caring that she set an example of humanity, compassion, peace, and love towards each other. She took The Missionaries of Charity to the places where they were needed, whether it was among the poor, natural disasters, or war, she always showed her caring until the last day of her life. And even though today her facilities are still expanding throughout the world, it might not be enough to care for poverty. Despite all the modern life and technology, many have not been able to progress due to poverty. Those people regardless of where they live, are in constant need of caring and help from others. Mother Teresa, with her vision, set the example to care and help each other, because it might take one person to start a new vision but it takes many to follow and help fight against poverty.
